GEPSI

Building a Beautiful Company

Of course, at our company we insist on changing the business of our clients for the better. But we refuse to stop there. With GEP Social Initiatives (GEPSI), we also band together to inspire change in the communities in which we live and work.

Our founders established GEP with a philanthropic spirit back in 1999 and continue to carry that spirit today. “Initiatives that are near and dear to me are elimination of hunger, education and entrepreneurship, particularly for women,” says Roopa Makhija, GEP President.

The Story of GEPSI

GEPSI began, as many success stories do, with the efforts of one person. A United States consultant took a trip to Ethiopia and came back filled with gratitude and a desire to help those who are not so fortunate.

The effort launched in the United States office in 2009. This endeavor then spread to our offices in India in early 2010, when Women@GEP India got together to spread awareness about contemporary social issues, engage with non-profits and local communities, and collaborate with them to help meet their needs.

Today, GEPSI is a global GEP effort, involving all of our offices and reaching out to our clients, partners, communities and local non-profits to develop an ever-evolving ecosystem of giving.

Doing Good, Together

Everyone at GEP can make an impact through the GEPSI program. Here are just some of our stories and programs:

International Women’s Day

The GEPSI team celebrates International Women’s day by organizing workshops and conferences in all its global offices. They observe the achievements of social, economic, cultural and political successes of women all over the world.

Backpack Buddies

Backpack Buddies aims to provide the children living in homeless shelters with the school supplies they need for the upcoming school year. GEPSI supports the Win shelter in New York City, serving close to 12,000 women and their children each year.

Rutgers Half Marathon & 8K

Several U.S. team members ran the Rutgers half marathon and 8K together. To cheer them on, GEPSI organized a fundraiser where we contributed to each runner. All contributions went to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Sports for Teenage Refugees

The GEPSI Prague team organized a sports tournament for teenage refugees in partnership with the Facility for Foreign Kids, a non-profit that helps refugee children adapt to everyday life.

Career Fair

The GEPSI U.S. team organized a career fair for women in homeless shelters in the NY and NJ area. They also assisted the women in putting together resumes and gave job advice.

Speakers and Workshops

GEPSI India regularly invites esteemed speakers like Saskia Bruysten from the Yunuz Foundation and Nimish Patel from Empty Hands to meet with and influence employees to spread kindness and giving.

Happy Feet Home

Our GEPSI India team works with this hospice for children suffering from life-threatening illnesses.

Running for the Girl Child

22 GEPpers from our Hyderabad office ran a 5k/10K on 22nd January 2017, as part of a GEPSI sponsored fundraising event to support Seva Bharathi’s “Kishori Vikas” – a program designed to educate and empower adolescent girl children in slums.

The House of Three Wishes

GEPSI Prague organized a Garden Party to raise money for the charity The House of Three Wishes (Dům tří přání). These funds go toward Dům tří přání's plans to organize a summer camp for children facing family issues like negligence, alcoholism and domestic abuse.

Feeding a Million Mouths

Reaching out to the underserved in society has for long been one of the foremost ideals of corporate social responsibility at GEP. In August 2017, GEPSI joined hands with the Akshaya Patra Foundation to flag off a fleet of food delivery vehicles that will support distribution of daily meals to underprivileged children in government run schools. The goal is to provide over one million meals that will feed poor school children all over India, every day.

All of our offices around the world participate in GEPSI activities and fundraisers, and remember, even the smallest gesture can make a huge difference to one person.

Be a catalyst for change – because we can achieve great things together.
